Photos: Vienna Bike Rodeo - Vienna, VA Patch

On Saturday, the Vienna Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) and Vienna Police Department hosted the 2nd Annual W&OD Safety and Bike Rodeo at the Vienna Presbyterian Church.

Vienna police officers helped kids ages four and up learn all of the core skills to riding a bike, including braking, balancing and handling obstacles. Children learned basic rules of the road so that they can safely ride in their own neighborhoods.

Representatives from Safe Kids USA gave free bicycle helmets to the first 200 kids to complete the Bike Rodeo. Beforehand, Safe Kids USA will also inspect children?s helmets to make sure they fit properly and discuss their important safety value.

On Sunday, another bike rodeo was held at Marshall Road Elementary.

The bicycle fun didn't end this weekend: Monday kicks off Vienna's annual Bike/Walk challenge. Seven schools will compete to get the most walkers and bikers over the course of the week. Stay tuned to Patch for the results.
