(AP) ? Browns President Mike Holmgren hopes to finish his contract with a Cleveland franchise in the midst of an ownership change.

Holmgren says Monday that he has "never quit anything in my life" and that he intends to complete his five-year contract which expires after the 2014 season. Jimmy Haslam III bought the Browns for $1 billion last month from Randy Lerner, who hired Holmgren in 2010. Haslam's purchase is pending the approval of the other NFL's owners and is expected to be completed by mid-October.

Holmgren has had positive interactions with Haslam, whom he calls a "good man." Holmgren doesn't feel the ownership switch has been disruptive as the Browns prepare for the upcoming season.

Holmgren wouldn't address the possibility of his role changing when Haslam takes over, saying "let's see how it goes."
